With a tight budget to convert a ramshackle old building, we advised our client to focus expenditure on the places it was most needed: high spec lighting and flexible servicing to the office areas. We consulted with all the staff, department by department, to ensure their new facilities would be suitable and that they would “buy into” the move. Space planning exercises demonstrated that with central storage and post room on the ground floor, and minimal deskspace storage, staff could work on the attractive first and second floors, leaving an area on the ground floor for future conversion as conference/meeting space.
