Tanner Street Housing, Bermondsey, London

A stylish residential scheme in a Conservation Area setting.
Because of the bend in the street, the block has been designed in two cranked parts with the main entrance between them. The circular stair towers
built of glass bricks echo the huge cylindrical vinegar vats which used to occupy this site when it was part of the Sarsons brewery.

Modern materials, including stainless steel balconies, insulated render, and a metal-clad roof, were chosen. Large glazed areas give views over a park, and allow the flats to benefit from solar heat gain.
