Perran Foundry, Cornwall
Perran Foundry is part of a World Heritage site and has lain derelict for decades. It lies on an attractive section of the River Kennel halfway between Falmouth and Truro. To bring the foundry back to life we have introduced new residential buildings and workspaces within the historic layout and designed imaginative conversions for the existing foundry buildings. As an enabling project to save the listed buildings we have produced a new mixed use community in which we have resolved all the issues of flood risk, protected species and exacting historic repair standards. The consolidation works have already stared on site and the first development phase is due to be completed in 2012.
